Breast re-implantation is a surgical procedure involving the replacement and/or removal of breast implants. This surgical procedure enables implant size to be increased significantly and/or correction of complications that may have occurred after a breast augmentation. It can also be performed to correct unsatisfactory results or correct breast implant size.
The desire to have breast implant revision surgery can be because of any of the following reasons:
- Desire to change the size of the breasts
- Pain from capsular contracture
- Concern about rupture or migration of implant
- Change from saline to silicone or different style of implant

Generally however, If you are dissatisfied with your breast shape after a breast augmentation surgery, implant size, and/or encountered any unwanted complications after a breast augmentation such as, implant deflation and asymmetry, then you may be a suitable candidate.
What are the options for breast re-implantation surgery?
Implant removal – This is the removal of the implant, often removed via an inframammary incision in order to allow visibility and access. The choice of incision may vary depending on the implant, degree of revision required, anatomy and patient-surgeon preference.
Removal and replacement – This procedure involves the removal and replacement of your implants, due to potential indicators such as, capsular contracture, uneven implant shape and size, and/or deflation of implants.
